LIVING IN THE CITY

It is difficult to decide where we want to live. Many people said that countryside is the best choice to spend their life while others had opposite view.In fact, everyone likes to live in a place which provides good qualities of life. In my opinion, the perfect place to live is big city because of its practical conveniences and great job opportunities.

First, living in the city we can enjoy more convenient and perfect services of transportation, education, health care, and entertainment. Big city has cheap public transport system with many kinds of means especially buses. Moving by bus is very safe and economical so city residents especially students and workers tent to use public transportation so that they can save more money. In addition, big city provides good educational system. In fact, most of the famous universities and excellent colleges and foreign language school are located in the city. So when we live here, we have a lot of chances to study further with professional methods. We can also attend night classes in order to improve our knowledge and skills. Also, most best and well-equipped hospitals are built in the cities such as Tu Du, Cho Ray, Saint point. It is easy for us to go to the hospital quickly when necessary. Besides, there are many kinds of entertainment which are suitable for everyone . The streets seem never to sleep and full of activities even late at night. There are a lot of coffee shops, shoping centers, theatres and cinemas. So after a hard working day, we can go out with our friends to some interesting places so that we can relax, have lot of fun and enjoy life. It is good to spend our life in a big city.

Another reason that living in the city is a best choice is great job opportunities. A big city is a political and economic centre of a country so it will provide us with better conditions and good environment to develop our career and have better chance to success. There are many big companies, offices, factories, groups, are concentrated on big city not only the internal ones but also the one coming from foreign countries so it is easy to do business and earn money. IT is also easy to solve the unemployment problem and get more suitable jobs to different people with different background knowledge and skills. For example, for one who have not got a certificate there is still work for them such as riding a pedi cab or selling something that does not need a big capital in some market over the city. For one with degree, a big city is the terrific place for them. It is not difficult for them to find a good job with high salary and promotion. In Ho Chi Minh city, for instance, Cho Ray hospital, Dong A bank, VUS, and some famous joint venture companies always attract masters , doctors, engineers. If people want to get better job opportunities ,they should live in developing cities.

Many people complained that living environment of big city is too polluted to live. It is true that city's residents have to suffer from many kinds of pollution. The dramatically increas of traffic congestion such as trucks, buses, taxis, motorbikes cause not only air pollution but also noise pollution. In addition, as a result of industrialization many factories and industrial centres are building and discharging polluted fuel and garbage. However, now the factories are being transfered from city out to suburb so the pollution will be reduce. Also, the government has had a lot of policies and adjustment to deal with environmental pollution in order to keep green, clean, and beautiful country. For example, the government allows people to use fresh material for product and traffic, solar power for petrol, and supermarket now use paper bags instead plastic bags. Besides, authorities have organized much useful extra-activity, which are responding strongly especially cycling for the environment to make people more aware of bad effects of pollution.

In conclusion, living in big city is good not only for our career but also for our life. People live here can enjoy many kinds of practical services of high living standard and there are also many jobs and contacts waiting for them. If people want to get better life qualities, big city is a perfect place for them.

CHEATING ON THE EXAM

Many college and high school students sometimes tend to cheat on the exam in order to get high grades. They often use minimized materials, look at their friend's papers, or buy essays off the internet. This may lead to good result at the end of the courses. However cheating on the exam is not good for students.

First, cheating on the exam is bad because it will make students become lazier. They never prepare the lessons before going to school or do their homework. When the exam is coming they just tend to cheat to get good marks. That they get good marks by cheating is so unfair to the students who have to study hard day by day to get better result. In addition, they always play truant, join useless activities, and do not pay attention to their studying because they think that they also get good mark although they do not go to class. Also, they depend too much on books and materials. As a result, they do not use thinking power, so they soon become more passive and lazier.

Cheating on the exam is also harmful because it causes a bad influence on their virtue. When taking the exam, students are expected to do the test by themselves. However, they are not honest because they cheat on the exam by using minimized materials or copy their friend's paper. After the exam they get high grades and receive a good degree when they graduate from school. However this degree has no value because they get it by cheating. I still remember one of my friends used to cheat on exam to prove that he is the best student. When he was caught, he has a bad reputation. His teachers, his friends do not trust him any more and his parents were very disappointed about his wrong action.

Despite these bad effects of cheating on the exam, some students argue that they are too busy to concentrate on studying and they have no choice but to cheat on the exam so that they can pass. It is true that now students are very busy. Besides having a heavy schedule with a lot of difficult subjects, they have to do part time job to pay for the school fee, the rent, and to buy expensive study equipments so that they do not have enough time to study. However cheating on the exam is not a solution. Instead, they have to learn how to manage their time effectively. Moreover, some students also worry that they will fail on the exam. They can study in group to improve their knowledge or go to center for help. Otherwise, once they are discovered when they ear cheating on the exam, they will receive a F on that subject and the serious consequence is that they can be expelled. Cheating is not beneficial for students.

Cheating on the exam causes a lot of serious problems. It can not only damage the awareness of studying of student but also harm to their virtue. Teachers should punish strictly to the students who cheat on the exam so that we can stop cheating and create a good educational system.

EARTHQUAKE EFFECTS

Earthquakes, which are measured by Richter scale, are a dangerous natural phenomenon. They happen without warning. They can happen any time of day, at any point during the year. Sometime, an earthquake will be so small that it could not cause any serious damage. However, strong earthquake will result in a lot of bad consequences for our society. The effects of the rumbling produced by earthquakes will lead to the damage of man-made structures, loss of human life and tsunami.
One of the most dangerous effects of an earthquake is the loss of human life. It is said that earthquakes are responsible for around about 10,000 deaths per year. They are the terrible destroyer because they can kill a lot of people at the same time. In fact, there are many real evidences of the violence strength of the earthquake. For example, the 1964 Alaska earthquake, a huge concrete facade fell of a department store onto pedestrians passing by and killed all of them. Another example is the latest earthquake, in 2010 Haiti earthquake, about 200,000 people were killed. However, the exact number will never be know. Also, in the San Fransisco earthquake in 1906 nearly all of people were hurt one way or another.
Another bad effect of an earthquake is the damage of important infrastructure such as buildings, bridges and roads. These infrastructures take an important part in the development of our economic and our life. When the earthquake happen with a strong Richter, the buildings, bridges and roads were destroyed, and it takes a lot of money to rebuilt and repair them, so after the earthquake, our economic will be decreased strongly and our living standard will be lower. For example, in the 2010 Haiti earthquake almost the buildings were collapsed and the citizens have to face to a lot of difficulties.
Beside destroying infrastructure and losing human life, earthquakes that take place under the ocean can cause terrible tsunamis. Tsunamis are giant waves that cause floods and are up to 100 feet tall. They often strike a long way away from the quake, and are very deadly. They are really dangerous. In fact, in the last century more than 50,000 people have died as a result of tsunami. On June 25, 1896 an earthquake of the Japanese coast generated a tsunami that hit the shore with wave heights ranging from 10 to 100 feet and lead to the death of a lot of people especially fish men and tourists who are on the sea.
In conclusion, earthquakes produce various damaging effect to the areas they act upon. Rapid settling and collapse of infrastructures, terrible casualties and tsunami are tree main unavoidable effects of the earthquake. Getting information and knowing how to protect ourselves from the earthquake is really necessary. There are a lot of methods to protect us from earthquake so try to master to use in case there is an earthquake.
